Did It Take All Of That?

Then Judas, having received a detachment of troops, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons. Luke 18:3 Listen.  On Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 10 a.m., you need to visit St. Luke Baptist Church where the Reverend Eric L. Alexander is my pastor.  Listen….he been preaching.  And with all the world being at a stand still, you have no excuse to miss out on a good Word.  Churches are streaming their services constantly.  My couch has been a great pew, and my cat Fitz has been an okay usher.  The sermon for Palm Sunday blessed my entire soul.  Let’s…

    Perfectly Peachy

Last summer, Bible Study Mama and I went to pick peaches off the trees at Faulkner Lake Orchard.  They had already picked peaches available, but I was looking for ways to make me move and get on with life.  My vitamin D was low, so I figured this would be as good an activity as any.  Plus, there was food involved. We had a peach tree behind my great-grandmother’s house.  I was really little at the time that the tree was thriving, so I don’t recall picking peaches off of the branches.  However, I do remember picking peaches off the ground.  They were the only ones that I could reach.…

  • Gifts and More Gifts

Bible Study Brother and I sit down and attempt to figure out our gifts. Some came to mind easily and others were a bit more challenging. The important thing is that we gave it a shot. If you’re interested in reading about dreams and gifts, check out the blog “Dream a Little Dream.” #wepreach

    The Journey

God is good.  I don’t say that to be deep or super spiritual.  I mean that from my heart.  I’ve shared with you that I’m spending more time studying the Bible.  I have committed to being a faithful student of the Word.  The more that I study….the more questions I have.  I start in one place and inevitably end up in a completely different place.  And let me tell you, the destination makes the journey worth it. I started a twenty-one-day Bible study devotional on YouVerse.  My intent was to read that devotional every morning and count that as my time with the Lord.  Welllllll, this devotional asked you to…

    A Heart Turned Towards God

Wednesday night’s Bible study began to lay the path for us as we draw closer to Resurrection Sunday.  In all this uncertainty, it can be easy for us to take our eyes off the celebration of Jesus’ death, burial, and ultimate resurrection.  Pastor came from Luke 22:43-44 primarily.  Let’s set the scene. Jesus has gone to the garden of Gethsemane for prayer, but He didn’t go alone.  He brought Peter, James, and John with Him.  He decides to go a little ways from them but advises them to pray so that they don’t fall into temptation.  Jesus kneels and begins to pray. And this is not just any prayer.  It’s…

    Swimming With Dolphins

Last Spring Break, Bible Study Cousin and I took Sweet Baby on her first cruise.  It was an adventure.  Sweet Baby was ready to take Mexico and the open waters by storm.  By day two, I was ready for a vacation from the vacation.  Annnnnyways, on to the point of this story.  We decided that it would be a great idea to go swim with dolphins.  I had swam with dolphins many years before, and it was a great experience. Sweet Baby was ecstatic.  She screamed and squealed when she saw the dolphins cresting the surface of their enclosures.  How exciting!  We listened to the instructor tell us how we…

    Childish

I’m childish ya’ll.  I’m pretty sure that’s why I enjoy interacting with kids so much.  It doesn’t take much to make me laugh and being with the littles makes me laugh often.  But they aren’t the only ones that make me act like Tickle-Me Elmo. Not too long ago, Bible Study Cousin and I attended a money workshop.  We were there to learn all about how to manage finances and get some insight on making smart money moves for business.  Imagine my delight when they said that a magician would be one of the opening presenters.  You know who wasn’t delighted?  Bible Study Cousin.  I swear she side eyed me…

    Do It For Us

This time of social distancing from friends, family, co-workers, and church family has proved one thing.  The church is not a physical building.  The body of Christ is the church.  And the church is expanding and thriving right now.  Sunday’s worship experience in my home reiterated this fact.  The Spirit of God was all in my home as I shared an online worship experience with my church family.  Let’s dig into the sermon recap. My pastor preached a mighty word from Mark 9:14-29.  The verses record the story of a father who was searching for help for his demon possessed son.  The father knew of Jesus and His healing power,…

    Sweet Love

For some reason, I can’t get love out of my mind.  Not romantic love.  You know, taking someone out for a moonlit stroll on the beach while some dude walks creepily behind you playing the violin.  Not that kind.  I’m talking about cleaning up your throw up and changing the sheets because you are grossly ill love.  I guess I’m thinking of true love. And, I don’t know why I can’t stop thinking of it.  I haven’t been watching anything oriented towards love.  Well, I take that back.  I’ve been watching Tiger King on Netflix and love plays a prominent role in this addicting docuseries.  Primarily the love of money. …

  • Daddy Issues

If you’ve listened to any of our previous podcasts, and I mean really listened, I’m sure you can hear the faint cry of daddy issues. (Okay, sometimes it’s blatant.) Bible Study Brother and I decided to be open and tackle the issue head on. We hope it helps you, because it certainly helped us. #wepreach
