Mowing the Yard
Spring has sprung which means my favorite household chore is rearing it’s ugly head. Mowing the yard. You can probably tell from my tone that it’s not really my favorite chore. But it’s necessary for the upkeep of my home. When I first moved into my house, I had big plans. I had no need to purchase a lawn mower. I would just find someone and pay them to do the job. Finding my first lawn care technician was incredibly easy. Frank, my next-door neighbor, volunteered for the job. We settled on a price and mowing schedule. That worked perfectly…until it didn’t. Initially, Frank was compliant. He mowed my yard…

A Resurrected Savior
It happened. The stone has been rolled away. The tomb is empty. The angels asked, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here but is risen!” After that quiet Saturday. That dark Saturday when it seemed all hope was lost. It happened! Jesus Christ became our resurrected Savior! And I’m so thankful! My life would useless without this wonderful gift. I can imagine that Saturday was probably a day full of grief for those left behind. They had walked with Jesus. Broke bread with Him. Talked with Him. Laughed with Him. Ministered with Him. They truly did life with Jesus. So, a life without Him…

Good Friday
Good Friday. The word “good” brings mental images of pleasant things. Your favorite ice cream. A sunny day. Smiling faces. So, pairing the word “good” with the Friday that Jesus experienced can be perplexing at times. It forces us to consider that our perspective may be skewed. Jesus was guilty of no crime. He was walking in His purpose. He was fulfilling God’s call on His life. After He was arrested in the garden of Gethsemane, He was taken before Annas, a high priest, to stand trial for his supposed crimes. Annas wants Jesus to explain His disciples and His doctrine. Jesus responds by saying that He taught in public…

Whom Are You Seeking?
365 days have passed since I crash landed at the bottom of the very slippery slope that I was climbing. I landed right on my butt, and let me tell you, it hurt. I expended so much energy trying to do wrong. I was exhausted before I ever fell. But the fall…it knocked the wind right out of me. At the top of the slope was the prize. The thing that I desired most. A family to call my own. The opportunity to carve out my little piece of heaven in this world. A place to belong and feel desired. A place to feel chosen. But I went about it…

Judging A Book By It’s Cover
What’s the first book that you read and just completely fell in love with? Do you have one? I remember my red books that my aunts used to teach me to read. Although they hold a fond place in my heart, I wouldn’t say that they were my favorites. I had a love for the written language long before those red books came into the picture. Different books have taken center stage at various points in my life. I recall Teddy Ruxpin. Although his name makes him sound like an R&B singer, he was a battery-operated bear. When I was a kid, he was a hot ticket item. And he…

Perfectly Peachy
Last summer, Bible Study Mama and I went to pick peaches off the trees at Faulkner Lake Orchard. They had already picked peaches available, but I was looking for ways to make me move and get on with life. My vitamin D was low, so I figured this would be as good an activity as any. Plus, there was food involved. We had a peach tree behind my great-grandmother’s house. I was really little at the time that the tree was thriving, so I don’t recall picking peaches off of the branches. However, I do remember picking peaches off the ground. They were the only ones that I could reach.…

The Journey
God is good. I don’t say that to be deep or super spiritual. I mean that from my heart. I’ve shared with you that I’m spending more time studying the Bible. I have committed to being a faithful student of the Word. The more that I study….the more questions I have. I start in one place and inevitably end up in a completely different place. And let me tell you, the destination makes the journey worth it. I started a twenty-one-day Bible study devotional on YouVerse. My intent was to read that devotional every morning and count that as my time with the Lord. Welllllll, this devotional asked you to…

Swimming With Dolphins
Last Spring Break, Bible Study Cousin and I took Sweet Baby on her first cruise. It was an adventure. Sweet Baby was ready to take Mexico and the open waters by storm. By day two, I was ready for a vacation from the vacation. Annnnnyways, on to the point of this story. We decided that it would be a great idea to go swim with dolphins. I had swam with dolphins many years before, and it was a great experience. Sweet Baby was ecstatic. She screamed and squealed when she saw the dolphins cresting the surface of their enclosures. How exciting! We listened to the instructor tell us how we…

Childish
I’m childish ya’ll. I’m pretty sure that’s why I enjoy interacting with kids so much. It doesn’t take much to make me laugh and being with the littles makes me laugh often. But they aren’t the only ones that make me act like Tickle-Me Elmo. Not too long ago, Bible Study Cousin and I attended a money workshop. We were there to learn all about how to manage finances and get some insight on making smart money moves for business. Imagine my delight when they said that a magician would be one of the opening presenters. You know who wasn’t delighted? Bible Study Cousin. I swear she side eyed me…

Sweet Love
For some reason, I can’t get love out of my mind. Not romantic love. You know, taking someone out for a moonlit stroll on the beach while some dude walks creepily behind you playing the violin. Not that kind. I’m talking about cleaning up your throw up and changing the sheets because you are grossly ill love. I guess I’m thinking of true love. And, I don’t know why I can’t stop thinking of it. I haven’t been watching anything oriented towards love. Well, I take that back. I’ve been watching Tiger King on Netflix and love plays a prominent role in this addicting docuseries. Primarily the love of money. …
