Let the Thanks Begin!

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18

This year has flown by so quickly.  It seems like just yesterday that we were gathered at my mom’s house for her annual New Year’s Day Fish Fry.  Now Thanksgiving is knocking on our front doors.

I don’t ever want to get beside myself and think this blog is about me.  It’s not.  It’s all about God, and my journey to be in closer relationship with Him.  It’s about you and your love for Him.  And your acceptance of His love for you.

With that in mind, I asked some friends and family (but if you’re my friend, you’re my family so….) if they would be willing to share with you what they’re thankful for this holiday season.  Of all the people that I asked, I only got one “no,” but I have a feeling that you will hear from them at some point.

There is so much power in the body of Christ sharing their stories.  Their triumphs and their failures.  It helps us relate to one another.  It helps us to feel bonded and not alone.

On Thanksgiving Day, I will share with you a list of the things that make me swell with gratitude.  Since we all know tomorrow is not promised, I must take this time to publicly thank each person that has contributed.  It’s not easy to lay your heart out there, but I know that God will honor their sacrifice and willingness to share.

We’re all in this journey together.  We’re headed to a joint destination.  We might as well get to know some of the people that are going up yonder with us.  #wepreach
