Childish

I’m childish ya’ll.  I’m pretty sure that’s why I enjoy interacting with kids so much.  It doesn’t take much to make me laugh and being with the littles makes me laugh often.  But they aren’t the only ones that make me act like Tickle-Me Elmo.

Not too long ago, Bible Study Cousin and I attended a money workshop.  We were there to learn all about how to manage finances and get some insight on making smart money moves for business.  Imagine my delight when they said that a magician would be one of the opening presenters.  You know who wasn’t delighted?  Bible Study Cousin.  I swear she side eyed me as soon as the announcement was made.  Because she already knew…LOL.

The magician was amazing!  And I behaved as predicted.  I giggled.  I ohh-ed and ahh-ed.  I clapped enthusiastically.  I laughed out loud for real.  I smiled.  I was truly delighted.  Like I already said, it doesn’t take much.

Sweet Baby has deemed herself to be a comedian, and I’m a great audience.  She listens to my knock-knock jokes and offers her own variations of the same jokes.  I cannot resist a full body laugh when she closes with her tagline “waka waka.”  It’s not funny and that’s what makes it hilarious.  She has great delivery.

If you really want to see me be goofy, engage with me after 10 p.m.  Remember, I’m childish, so I have an early bedtime.  Staying up past ten at night makes me almost delirious.  I’m guaranteed to be goofy and a laugh a minute.  Those that don’t know that would probably assume that I was drunk.  Child, I’m just a kid fighting sleep.

What are you doing to make you laugh or spark joy right now?  My cousins keep me pretty entertained.  Scratch that…my ENTIRE family has been providing epic laughs.  I also laugh it up with friends and co-workers.  I push through at-home workouts to get my endorphins going.  I take candlelit bubble baths while my cat Fitz peeps at me from the doorway.

Don’t get sucked into doom and gloom.  Stop.  Smell the roses.  Laugh a little.  No…..laugh a lot.  I had to take inventory of my emotions recently.  Unpack those boxes that I’ve previously mentioned.  Thankfully, they’re not as heavy.  So, I’m not ignorant to all of the other emotions that are present, but I am intentional about finding joy.  Find at least one thing to smile about today.  #wepreach
